Challenge Events Terms and Conditions

Thank you so much for your interest in fundraising for West Central London Mind! We ask everyone who has registered a place in a challenge event for us on our website/ Run for Charity to be aware of and to comply with the terms and conditions listed below.

If you have any questions about our Terms & Conditions, please email [email protected].

Terms and Conditions (Challenge and Running Events)

1) By registering for a charity place with WCL Mind, you pledge to fundraise the sponsorship target detailed in the registration form (excluding Gift Aid) and to meet the fundraising deadlines set by WCL Mind. You agree to transfer all funds collected in aid of WCL Mind by 1 month after your event date.

2) To confirm your place, you understand that you must pay an upfront registration fee, which goes towards covering the cost of your place in the event. The registration fee is non-refundable. It does not contribute to your final fundraising target, and you cannot roll it over to future events. Your place is not secure until you have paid this registration fee.

  • Charity event places come at a cost to WCL Mind, so we ask that you have a realistic plan of how you will reach your fundraising target before you accept the place. Failure to raise at least as much as the place cost WCL Mind means the charity is at a loss.

3) You agree to raise at least 50% of the minimum fundraising target a month before the event otherwise you may not be able to participate in the challenge.

4) You understand that WCL Mind reserves its right to cancel/withdraw my place in the event should you fail to comply with agreed obligations, to meet fundraising obligations or communicate your participation commitment to WCL Mind’s satisfaction.

5) You acknowledge that you may be contacted by email, phone and SMS in relation to the event you have registered for, ensuring West Central London Mind can deliver the necessary administrative and event-related communications required. These communications are to ensure your successful participation and fundraising for the event.

  • You acknowledge that failure to respond to communications from West Central London Mind’s fundraising team regarding your registration or fundraising may put your event place at risk.
  • This will include communications about:
    • Completing your registration for the event with any third-party providers;
    • Receiving your branded #WCLMind running top via post;
    • Fundraising advice and tips;
    • How the money you/other supporters raise is spent by West Central London Mind

6) You agree to carry out your fundraising in accordance with our Fundraiser’s code of practice:

  • You understand that you must be the minimum age for the specific event (typically 18) on the date of the event to enter.
  • You will not use WCL Mind’s or any associated logo without first obtaining permission from WCL Mind and will allow WCL Mind to approve any materials produced whether printed or online.
  • You will tell sponsors that you are raising money “in aid of” West Central London Mind.
  • You will not incur nor or are authorised to incur any cost, claim, loss or liability on behalf of West Central London Mind.
  • You will obtain approval from West Central London Mind before approaching press or celebrities to support my event.
  • For any independent fundraising events that you carry out to raise funds, (e.g. cake sale, pub quiz etc.) you acknowledge that you are carrying such events out in your own capacity. It’s your responsibility to organise all aspects of such event and make it clear that such event is run by you “in aid of” WCL Mind and is not run by WCL Mind. You also agree to make it clear that such event is not “on behalf of WCL Mind” and that WCL Mind will not accept any responsibility or liability for such event. If you wish to use WCL Mind’s logo, please contact the WCL Mind fundraising team who can provide an “in aid of” logo.

7) We have a limited number of places for each of our challenge events. If your circumstances change and you are unable to take part in the event, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can offer your place to someone else.

8) You understand that all participants take part in these challenge events at their own risk and agree you are suitably fit and physically able to compete in the event.

9) You acknowledge that any photography or film footage taken as part of your participation in the event can be used for promotional and marketing purposes for this specific event and any future WCL Mind events activity, including but not limited to promotion on WCL Mind’s and third-party websites, social media, in online and print media publications and other marketing materials. If you do not wish for your image to be used in this way, please contact us.

Please note

Charity running places come at a cost to the charity, and fundraising targets help ensure we don’t lose out on our investment and raise as much as possible to support our vital work. We ask charity place runners to raise 75% of their sponsorship by the event date, with the remaining fundraising due six weeks after race day. Please note that Gift Aid is not included in your fundraising target, and neither is your registration fee.

Registration fees for charity places in events are non-refundable and non-transferrable. Unfortunately we cannot transfer places to another person or defer a place to the following year.
