After two successful years, West Central London Mind’s Early Support Hub receives another year’s funding
We are thrilled to announce that our Early Support Hub, a vital service providing free and confidential mental health support to young people in Westminster, has secured another year of funding from the Department of Health and Social Care. This funding extension highlights the hub’s success and ensures that children, young people, and young adults aged 10-25 can continue accessing critical early intervention support for another year.
We are very proud that, over the past two years, the hub has supported 1431 young people. Through one-to-one art therapy/ talking therapy, group support, and workshops, an outstanding 100% of young people accessing one-to-one support reported extreme satisfaction.
With recent research reporting mental ill health in young people at an all-time high, the ability to offer a safe and welcoming space which helps young people manage challenges such as anxiety, stress, and low mood is more important than ever. Whether they need guidance, a listening ear, or signposting to further resources, we are here to help.
One young person who attended a workshop shared: “They were very kind and didn’t seem intimidating. It was a positive environment.” Another shared “They helped me understand the topic, made me understand how and when to ask for help.”
Nada Calovska, Director of Services for West Central London Mind said “I am ecstatic that the government has decided to continue investing in the hubs. We have seen firsthand the value that they bring in supporting young people’s mental health and equipping them with essential tools to manage their wellbeing earlier rather than later. To my mind, this service is an important part of the solution.”
We would like to thank our community partners, youth clubs, schools, and most importantly, the young people who we have supported in the last two years, for ongoing support and inspiration to always do our best.
